Writer Director Jack Bell has a deep love for horror and exploitation cinema, taking inspiration from Australian cult films like Mad Max and Wake in Fight.
The idea for the film was conceived in imagining a future a where the ‘meth epidemic’ completely consumes the already isolated environments of rural Australia.
TWEAKERS is set in a nameless town, seemingly abandoned by the rest of society; the drug trade and the bikers who own it exact a violent occupation. Lucy, discarded, isolated, and abandoned uses the only thing available to her to fight back against the powers that be – a wood axe and a couple of rabbit traps.
