Aedan Gale

Aedan Gale is an emerging lighting designer currently based in Melbourne, Australia. He recently completed his final year of study in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Production), at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA).

Aedan’s design work at the VCA includes Acting Company 2020's production of pool (no water) (directed by Leticia Cáceres) and Earthquakes in London (directed by Sarah Goodes), as well as several short contemporary dance works by renowned choreographers such as Anouk van Dijk, Stephanie Lake, and Larissa McGowan.

Grady Xanthos

Grady is a lighting design graduate at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). At the VCA, his Head Electrician credits include Flora the Red Menace, Four Directions: First and Second Year Works and Disclosure Graduate Dance Season. His lighting design credits include the play Snore, and musical theatre productions The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Our House. Outside of the VCA, Grady has worked as Head Electrician at Marriner Group’s Forum Melbourne on a casual basis.

Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Production)

Kit Cunneen

Kit is an eager lighting technician and designer based in Melbourne. Her production practice is geared towards theatre as a form of emotional catharsis and as a way of commentating on our current social climate. Credits at VCA include Head Electrician for Swim Between the Flags (2019) and Deputy Head Electrician for dance productions Nuti, Origami, Pile of Bones, Return to Normal, Sight Unseen, Surge and WOW (2020). While Kit focuses on working in a technical capacity, she took the role of lighting designer for Unsuckle, directed by Isabella Vadiveloo, as part of La Mama's main stage season (2020). Other recent credits include lighting programmer and crew for Salvador Dinosaur and MILKE's The Anniversary and programmer for The Cane at Redstitch.

Merissa Tang

Merissa is a technical theatre practitioner from Singapore, with a myriad of skills ranging from Stage/Production Management to Lighting/Projection systems and design. Her works include: Citizen X (Singapore) by The Finger Players (2021), #THEATRE (Singapore) by IN:DEX (2021), SURGE (Melbourne) by Anouk Van Dijk (2020), NAK DARA (Singapore) by P7:1SMA (2020), Shared Fictions (Melbourne) by Jo Lloyd (2019), AMOK>>>>HALT (Vietnam) by VCA/USM (2019), and Guilty Landscapes (Germany) by Singapore International Festival of Arts (2017).

Recipient of the National Arts Council (NAC) Scholarship (Singapore) in 2018, Merissa recently graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Production) from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, University of Melbourne. She continuously expands her theatrical knowledge in hopes of becoming a well-rounded production/technical manager.

Oliver Pool

Oliver Pool specialises in technical lighting and strives to combine cutting edge lighting technology with technical methodologies to create exceptional lighting solutions for artists and performers. Oliver has worked on a range of shows while attending the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) with show design credits including Wunderschön Stark choreographed by Michelle Heaven, and MTAFU choreographed by Prue Lang. His technical credits include Head Electrician and Programmer roles on various shows at the VCA. Oliver continues his passion for performance lighting outside of the VCA, pursuing work opportunities with multiple Australian production companies and has a key interest in specialising in live music events.

Master of Design for Performance

Sam Diamond

After completing a bachelor degree in architectural design at the University of Western Australia, Sam relocated to Melbourne in 2019 to commence studies in a Master of Design for Performance at the Victorian College of the Arts with a focus on set and lighting design.

Projects include Set Design for Earthquakes in London (VCA Acting Company 2020). Set, Costume, Lighting and Vision Design for Abyss (Independent Directors Project, VCA 2020). Co-design for SWAG (2019 Prague Quadrennial - Australian Students Exhibit). Associate Lighting Design for On The Town (VCA Music Theatre Company, 2019).

Sam was the recipient of the 2019 University of Melbourne Orloff Family Charitable Trust Scholarship for excellence in production.
