Rohanna Hadlow
Rohanna Hadlow is a Melbourne based costume maker who has completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Production) at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). Having had a keen interest in sewing from a young age, Rohanna has spent the last few years honing her skills in making for performance and producing high quality work. Rohanna has worked with The Rabble on Unwoman (2019), and as both Senior Costumier and Costume Manager on many VCA productions. She has created costumes for drag performers and has recently completed a tailoring internship on Hamilton with Melbourne Costume Tailors.
Samantha Hastings
Samantha is a Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Production) 2020 Graduate. Sam found her passion for Design and Production through her experience of theatre, visual arts and design throughout high school. During her time at the VCA, Sam has furthered her love for costume design tailoring her learning to focus on this area of theatrical design. Sam's specialities include costume design, costume management and basic construction. She is described by her peers and lecturers as well organised, detail orientated and an exceptional collaborative worker.
Whilst studying at the VCA, Sam’s credits include Set and Costume Design Assistant and Costume Manager for Flora the Red Menace (2019), Costume Designer for Anouk van Dijk’s contemporary dance piece Surge (2020) and Costume Designer for the musical Our House directed by Tyran Parke.
Angus Donald
Angus is a Melbourne-based creative designer who is inspired by history, queer movements, popular culture and couture. Aesthetically, they challenge the idea of masculine and feminine, and provide a perspective on all shades of the spectrum. Whilst studying at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), Angus’s credits include Assistant Stage Manager for The Crucible (2018), Wig Design and Costume Construction for Into the Woods (2018), Costume Manager for Snore (2019) and Mirror Mirror (2019), Costume Crew for Body (2019), Costume Design and Wig Design for The Mystery of Edwin Drood (2020) and The World That Was (2020).
Elizabeth Negline
Elizabeth has a specific interest in costume design and construction. She has developed her artistic style by travelling to Indonesia to participate in a mask making master class in 2020, and attended the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space in 2019. During her time at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), Elizabeth has worked in a variety of roles including Leading Workshop Hand on Disclosure for the Graduate Dance Season (2019), Four Directions (2019), and Mirror Mirror (2019), Costume Manager on Doctor Faustus Lights the Lights (2019), and Assistant Costume Maker on F+++ing A (2019) and Children of Saturn (2018).
Emily Crosato
Emily is an emerging freelancer and passionate costumier based in Melbourne, Victoria. During her final year at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) she held the position of Senior Costumier for pool (no water), Earthquakes in London, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and six different dance productions. Outside of the VCA, Emily has recently completed a tailoring internship for Hamilton (Sydney) and an additional internship with Kate Aubrey Design and Textiles (New York). Some of her past credits include costumier for The Planet – A Lament (Arts Centre Melbourne, AsiaTOPA, 2020) and as a designer/costumier for Wild Swans (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, E.motion21 and Circa, 2020). In 2019, Emily had the opportunity to work on Unwoman (The Rabble) – winner of two Green Room Awards.
Master of Design for Performance
Karine Larché
Trained as a costumier, Karine has made costumes for the Melbourne Theatre Company and The Australian Ballet. An avid reader, she believes in the power of costumes and scenography to give life and renewed perspectives to storytelling. Her latest project was costume design for Project F with Prue Lang. Within the Victorian College of the Arts, Karine is currently developing the set and costume design for Nothing, and the costume design for Pool (no water). Karine is the recipient of the Portland House Theatre Outreach Program, and the Trina Parker and Jim Marks Postgraduate scholarships.
Madeline Nibali
Madeline has always sewn, knitted, crocheted, painted, or learnt whatever skills were required to realise her creative visions. Whilst studying fine arts at the Victoria College of the Arts (VCA), she became intrigued with creating elements of visual storytelling as evidence for the audience to discover. Credits include co-design of the Prague Quadrennial 2019 Australian Student Exhibition, costumes on La Mama’s 2018 Hotel Bonegilla, costumes on the 2021 short film Encounter (directed by Arctic Qu), and set and costume design and construction for Salty Theatre’s upcoming 2021 productions of Voldemort and the Teenage Hogwarts Musical Parody and the debut of an original Australian musical, Paper Stars. Eager to continue designing and creating set and costumes professionally, Madeline is completing her Master of Design for Performance at the Victorian College of the Arts to become a true master of disguise.
Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Production)
Arielle Vlahiotis
Arielle is a zestful designer who completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Production) at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in 2020. She is determined to make visually engaging designs that entice audiences. In 2020, Arielle designed the set and costumes for dance pieces Nuti and Return To Normal and was the Set Designer for the musical Our House. At the VCA, Arielle has worked in the set, prop and costume workshops with her credits including Four Directions: First and Second Year Works (2019), On the Town (2019), DFLTLX (2019), F+++ing A (2019) and Peter Pan (2018).
In 2020, she was thrilled to intern with designer Christina Smith. Arielle hopes that you enjoy the work she has been part of creating and looks forward to seeing where the future takes her.
Dominic Brown-Downes
Dominic is a set and costume designer and maker completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Production) at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). He is interested in the creation of worlds that challenge the perceptions of audiences and prompt performers to rethink their ideas of a production.
During his time at the VCA, Dominic has held varying roles across productions including Set and Props Designer on The Cripple of Inishmaan (2020), Costume and Set Designer/Maker on Sight Unseen (2020), Associate Costume Designer on DFLTLX (2019) and Workshop Leading Hand on Snore (2019) and Swim Between the Flags (2019).
Dominic has previously completed a Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services (Costume for Performance) from Melbourne Polytechnic and has had the opportunity to work with companies including The Australian Ballet, National Institute of Circus Arts and MOOMBA.
Sophie Davis
Sophie is a set and costume designer recently completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Production) at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). Sophie is determined, as an emerging artist, to find new ways of creating environmentally sustainable and ethical work - exploring the relationship and potential between creativity, science, diversity and its translation into physical space.
Her practice is multi-faceted with interest and experience also in scenic art, set/prop making and spatial and installation design. Sophie has held various notable roles across productions at the VCA including Costume Designer on Earthquakes in London (2021), Set Designer on pool (no water) (2020), Associate Set Designer on Snore (2019), Head Scenic Artist on Swim Between the Flags (2019) and Assistant Costume Maker on Body (2018).
Sophie was the recipient of the Cassidy Bequest Scholarship for Production in 2019 and is currently commencing Honours in Social Practice and Community Engagement.
Tom O'Sullivan
Tom O’Sullivan is a recent graduate from the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Production) course specialising in stage and costume management at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). His VCA credits include Production Stage Manager on The Mystery of Edwin Drood (2020) , Costume Manager on Earthquakes in London (2021), Assistant Stage Manager on Flora the Red Menace (2019), Swim Between the Flags (2019) and Assistant Costume Manager on August: Osage County (2018). Tom has design experience having costume designed UMMTA’s Legally Blonde (2019) and lighting designed Parade (2019). Tom has worked on the Helpmann Awards (2019), White Night Melbourne (2019) and Port Fairy Folk Festival (2018/19). Tom is interested in the performing arts, film and television, and events industries.

Sam Diamond
After completing a bachelor degree in architectural design at the University of Western Australia, Sam relocated to Melbourne in 2019 to commence studies in a Master of Design for Performance at the Victorian College of the Arts with a focus on set and lighting design.
Projects include Set Design for Earthquakes in London (VCA Acting Company 2020). Set, Costume, Lighting and Vision Design for Abyss (Independent Directors Project, VCA 2020). Co-design for SWAG (2019 Prague Quadrennial - Australian Students Exhibit). Associate Lighting Design for On The Town (VCA Music Theatre Company, 2019).
Sam was the recipient of the 2019 University of Melbourne Orloff Family Charitable Trust Scholarship for excellence in production.
